Grappy: Despite the tone in some of the posts, I am an eternal optimist. I believe that humanity will tame our combative nature and the challenges a growing population places on our planet. While the problems of the world loom large, we are also seeing great strides towards eliminating poverty and disease, and in improving equity and freedom. Fundamentally I believe that open, honest discourse leads to gradual accommodation. This is the raison d'etre for my blog.
